What to expect at your trial
No experience needed. Just show up and we will take it from there. This is how the practice goes.
10 minutes early
Park in Lot H at Las Positas College, no permit needed. Walk to the pool deck entrance and look for a coach in TVD gear.
Swimsuit + towel
That's it. No goggles or special equipment required. Parents watch from the seating area outside the pool deck.
About 90 minutes
A short warm-up on land, then pool work with the bubbler on. Coaches introduce each skill one step at a time.
Zero pressure
If your kid loved it, we'll point you to enrollment. If not, you walk away with a fun afternoon and no obligation.
What if my kid is nervous?
Some kids get to the end of the board and decide they are not ready. That is fine, and we never force it. They can try a smaller step, spend more time in the water, or watch for a while. Most kids who are nervous the first week are asking to go again by the second. If your child needs a slower start, tell the coach when you check in.
Free trial classes are every Wednesday. Ages 13 and under come to the 4:00 to 5:30 pm practice. Ages 14 and over come to the 5:30 to 7:00 pm practice. If something comes up and you cannot make it, reply to your confirmation email and pick another Wednesday.
